Started the Easter long weekend with an easy 1 hour drive from the Melbourne CBD for a low key day in Geelong. It was a perfect sunny Saturday for fish and chips by the bay, a chill walk along the Geelong waterfront and a ride on the Giant Sky Wheel. I would suggest parking at the Cunningham Pier which is known to be one of the iconic structures on the waterfront and basically at the centre of everything. Also let’s be honest, it’s a pretty good spot for a snap! As you walk down the Cunningham Pier you’ll come across the City Quarter bar which is a great stop for fish and chips, and for us an Antipasto platter, fried calamari and chicken tenders. Yes, we definitely over ordered but it was worth it especially when sitting outside overlooking the bay and foreshore.
A walk along the waterfront was much needed after the lunch we had! I remember visiting Geelong a couple of times when I was younger and remembering it wasn’t as lively as it was this visit. We walked by the Fishermen’s Pier where there was more fish and chips, and even paella! Along the way was the Giant Sky Wheel which we definitely couldn’t pass – yes I’m still a kid at heart! It was surprisingly a cheap admission fee at $9 for an adult and you literally go around it 10 times. I thought it was time to get off after the third rotation but it kept going! You definitely get your money worth and it’s great for those with kids. It was indeed a beautiful view at the top of the ferris wheel and luckily wasn’t too windy! After the Sky Wheel, we continued to walk along the waterfront and ended up at the Eastern Beach walking along the boardwalk. Something for next time is to be prepared and bring swimwear as there was a swimming enclosure for the public.
For those wondering about my outfit, I went for a casual look with a basic White off the shoulder long sleeve top from Bardot, a pair of denim frayed jeans from Seed which are one of my comfiest pair of everyday jeans, these cute pearl sandals I got from SOGO Indonesia and the Etoupe Hermes Lindy because I couldn’t be bothered changing bags from the week before! I also brought along my beige Zara coat (Probably too soon to be bringing out the coats!) just incase it got a little too windy.
Indeed a beautiful day in Geelong. Scroll down to see more!
