This year I received an invitation to attend the Diner En Blanc in Melbourne. It’s an event that runs once a year in various cities around the world originating in Paris, where thousands of people gather together for a sit down Parisian dinner or ‘White Party’. It’s a night where everyone is formally dressed in white from head to toe, around great company, enjoying the live entertainment and meals either provided or prepared by yourself! It doesn’t get better than that, right? This year’s Diner En Blanc was sponsored by Moet & Chandon and catered food by Tommy Collins. One of the most exciting part of the Diner En Blanc concept was the lead up to the day, where the location of the event remains a secret up until we were escorted to the venue. This year it was held at the Treasury Gardens, which we could tell from seeing all these people dressed in white from a far. It was indeed a magical night and something completely different to your ordinary dinner out in the city; from the traditional napkin waving before we start on our Entrees and the lighting of our sparklers towards the end of the night. It’s an event that brings together the love for gourmet food, great wine, fashion and live entertainment, while being surrounded by many friendly people.
