VAMFF DIARY: Premium Runway 3

It’s been almost a month but here’s my super late post on the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF) week in Melbourne. It was held at the Royal Exhibition Building again this year, which was indeed the perfect location with the high ceilings and round-arched architectural style. I was only able to attend two VAMFF shows this year – one being the Premium Runway 3 and the MYERxVAMFF show. Maintaining a work life balance is always important hence it was on the top of my list to ensure I made it to fashion week! It’s always exciting previewing the latest collections from many of Australia’s leading designers. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get proper shots of some of my favourite pieces from the collections on showcase, but scroll down to have a look at the clips I managed to take on the night of the runway show!
The stand outs from the show for me were definitely two Carla Zampatti pieces – the navy blue satin and velvet cape and the elegant white ruffled dress, Manning Cartell’s simple black Cami slip dress with high thigh slits, Dion Lee’s off the shoulder blazer showing a bit of edge and femininity; and Yeojin Bae’s pop of colour pieces with lace elements and ladylike dresses with form-fitting cuts. I hadn’t of heard of Macgraw prior to the show and was impressed by their collection, particularly the close-to-mustard-yellow coat. Both Romance Was Born and Ginger and Smart were also displaying many amazing pieces.  The final runway walk was indeed magical with liquid snow effect giving a natural look of snow falling. What I absolutely loved about VAMFF this year was the several activations available for all ticket holders at The Plaza, where there was every opportunity to have fun with your girlfriends taking many insta-worthy photos! My favourites were by far the Westfield Doncaster Mirror Room and the Mercedes Benz playful swings in front a huge Autumn leaf display where you could capture your very own GIF. See below the bits and pieces from my first VAMFF show this year.
