Emirates Stakes Day

Emirates Stakes Day, always a great day to spend with a group of friends where the ladies get to dress up and the gents get all suited up. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t ideal as we got nothing but wind with a bit of sun here and there. Regardless it was still a well spent day with everyone. This year there was the opportunity for access to The Park which was indeed like a fashion carnival. It was a brilliant idea consisting of live entertainment, a vintage Ferris Wheel (which of course means – Fairy Floss!) and Carousel, The L’Oréal Powder Room, The Pony Bar and a variety of food available from the likes of Saigon Sally, Hanoi Hannah, Huxtaburger, Gelato Messina and many more! A definite favourite was the Yellow Glen Terrace and The Pony Bar – indeed very classy and elegant.
For Stakes Day, I went for something that seemed to definitely be a trend this Spring Racing season – LACE! As much as I love Australian designer labels, I’m also a huge supporter of purchasing items of clothing from online boutiques/stores. This year I went for a high neck structured lace dress from Missguided. Despite the cut outs all over the dress, the long sleeves and length of the dress were able to keep me relatively warm on the unpredictable weather! There was already a lot going on with the dress, which is why I decided to pair the outfit with the classic Black ‘Rave’ heels from Nine West. This is indeed a timeless pair of shoes that will never go out of style. Accessories would have been way too much with this dress! Coincidentally, my go to Salvatore Ferragamo purse matched perfectly with the dress, specifically the circled gold chains. A purse or clutch with a strap is the most ideal choice for the races, you definitely want both hands free! Crowns as headpieces was definitely a winner this year hence why I went for the ‘Sage Gold Leaf Crown’ from Forever New rather than the usual fascinators. I kept it simple with my hair tied back in a ponytail, this way the high neck details of the dress would not be hidden! Plus, it really helped from avoiding my hair going everywhere by the wind!
